Averda acquires Qatar’s New Wave Cleaning Services

 Company aims to address demand for commercial waste management services amidst the country’s economic growth

Averda, a leading regional environmental services company, announced that it has acquired New Wave Cleaning Services (NWCS), a provider of reliable, high-quality professional waste management services based in Qatar. Company officials have revealed that the acquisition is part of an expansion plan that targets the local demand for reliable waste management services, which the company expects to rise amidst projections of a 35.5 per cent economic growth in 2010.

Qatar is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, with the government investing billions on infrastructure projects. It is also home to a number of luxury hotels, which require and utilize the best waste management services available. averda’s presence in Qatar through NWCS will provide the company with a strong foothold in the local market, making it easier to connect with potential clients for its residential, commercial and specialty waste management services.

"Demand for waste management services and products have been affected by the recession, but are now showing signs of recovery. The global waste management sector is currently in excess of USD 20 billion, and should start growing again in 2010," said Malek Sukkar, CEO, averda. "Our acquisition of NWCS, which follows strategic investments into two other leading regional companies – Al Ghadeer Waste Collections Company in the UAE and Technique Waste Management in Oman – is part of our strategic plan to expand across the whole GCC to fulfill the market demand for professional waste management solutions."
