Taylor Continental bins are certified and manufactured to EN840 and UN Clinical waste standards, with rigid hot dip galvanised steel construction with internally welded seams. They not only provide long and valuable service but are also said to contain accidental fire and withstand vandalism. Ranging from 1280 1100, 660, and 500 litre capacities, these bins can collect the smallest recyclate up to the bulkiest cardboard collections, with a range of easy to use lids designed to engage the public in good recycling behaviour.
Designed to change public’s behaviour with waste
Since Taylor’s bins are designed for urban and easily accessible locations, they can also be used as a medium of communication to the general public. "When you paint them, it becomes more acceptable and accessible for the public to use them. The logos that we put onto the bins dramatically change the public’s behaviour with waste," said David.
David further reflected on the high recycling trend in the UK and partly attributed it to good and effective communication to the public. He said that the same can be achieved in the Middle East.
"Ten years ago in Britain, only 3 percent of people really recycled. But now it is well over 40 percent, and the success has been attributed to communicating with people and telling them excatly what to do with waste. This knowledge is highly relevant to the Middle East, and Taylor has it. Our bins are not only durable, but they also provide means to convey a good message to the public."
With waste scavenging being one of the biggest deterrents to recycling and solid waste segregation, Taylor Continental has also introduced to the UAE its innovative bins which are equipped with anti-scavenging mechanisms. They include lid locks, brush lids and container retainers, which prevent unauthorised access to and removal of waste once it is dumped into the bins.
Taylor’s range of waste bins include Cage, WEE Bin, Foot Operated Cowbins, Towing, Continental Drop Front, Continental Drop Back and Continental Recycling.
Taylor Continental bins are fitted with cutting edge innovations. Among them are the lid locks, which are primarily intended to secure the bin contents (waste) and safeguard them from unauthorized access and unintended garbage. The lid lock features are available on Taylor Continental sizes of 500, 660, 770, 820, 1100 and 1280 litres.
Taylor also introduced its Container Retainer, the ultimate locking post system that keeps containers secure against severe weather conditions and unauthorised access or removal. The Retainer’s lid stop also prevents large or bulky items from being deposited inappropriately by restricting the lid opening. It is suitable for use with 1280, 1100, 770 and 660 litre models and the 240 and 360 litre domestic wheelie bins.
Special Features
UK-based Taylor Continental, a leading manufacturer of waste containers for commercial, municipal and residential waste requirements is set to enter into an exclusive agreement with Intercare, a provider of professional cleaning and hygiene solutions, wherein Intercare will market Taylor Continental’s innovative waste bins in the UAE.
Disclosing this development to Clean Middle East magazine during the recent World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, Taylor’s Business Development Director, Dr. David Gillet said: "We have been selling them directly, but from now on Intercare will be our exclusive agent for the UAE. They have demonstrated a sound knowledge of the market, in addition to their quality products. We hope to sign the agreement within the next three weeks."
Taylor Continental has distributed well over 1.3 million bins worldwide, with 15,000 of these bins going to the Middle Eastern market, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Cyprus, UAE and Lebanon. Of these, about 2,500 bins have been distributed in the UAE alone, to clients like Ajman and Umm Ul Quwain municipalities.
"In the UAE, Ajman and Umm Ul Quwain municipalities have been some of our main clients, for their municipal waste requirements," said David.
