First Kuwait Housekeepers Olympics whips up sports camaraderie

 

On July 20, 2011 Wednesday, Kuwait housekeepers did not end their day by cleaning their hotel rooms and setting up their trolleys. Instead, they participated in a fashion parade, played toilet roll basketball and competed in several other events at the First Kuwait Housekeeping Olympics.

First Kuwait Housekeepers Olympics whips up sports camaraderie
 

The event was held at the Holiday Inn Downtown Kuwait, and organized by Kuwait Housekeepers Group. The organizers, the judges, the Master of Ceremonies and all the volunteers did a tremendous job to make the games even more successful. The chairperson of the group and executive housekeeper of Holiday Inn Downtown Kuwait, Prabhat Shukla welcomed the teams and their supporters and formally opened the olympics.

“This is a special event for the housekeepers, our unsung heroes and we want to make this a fun time for the competitors and spectators,” said Shukla the chief organizer of the event.
 
The Housekeeping Olympics motivated more than 120 housekeepers from leading hotels of Kuwait who had gathered at Al Sharq ball room. There were seven different events measuring skill and timeliness: Vacuum Relay, Toilet Paper Mummy Wrapping, Toilet Paper Throwing, Scrubbing Pad Discuss Throwing and Bed Making and Towel folding.
 
The contest was overseen by a panel of judges from Kuwait housekeepers Group who are experts in housekeeping operations. Prizes were announced for the winning team for each event, including the Best Groomed Attendant and Chambermaid. The day was sponsored by Holiday Inn Downtown Kuwait, Intercare Kuwait, Diversified Dubai Alghanim Engineering Group, Diversey, Al-Rashed International; Gulf Hotels Supplies; Dubai; Danat Hospitality solutions Kuwait; Ellorakuwait ; SAT Linen Dubai and Cayassa tailor Kuwait.
