US-based facilities management firm, FacilityONE, which also just its first international office in the Gulf, has created a web-based management program dubbed HAWK (Helping America Watch Over its Kids); which provides a day-to-day maintenance solution for schools of all shapes and sizes, a better tool for maintaining and overseeing all aspects of facility management.
Media reports in US reported Dale Cain, the CEO of FacilityONE, as saying: “HAWK is a reality-based program that is serious about keeping our kids secure, comfortable and safe. It is designed to bring attention to our responsibility for keeping school children protected under its watchful eye.”
However, HAWK’s executive director, Dawn Cain, added that "HAWK can do much more. It provides a means of collaboration between a school's facility management and security departments. Schools will now be emergency-ready for all those events that threaten our kids - fire, floods, storms, other kids and malicious people. FacilityONE ties all these functions, maintenance and security, together into one single system."
School disasters demonstrate the difficulties that face school systems with emergency preparedness. Therefore, lack of updated facility layouts, understanding infrastructure and critical systems; and communication with first responders are critical problems that must be overcome. The FacilityONE HAWK program helps address key emergency preparedness issues, putting knowledge and power into the hands of school administrators and first responders. HAWK brings focus to the need for management of day-to-day facility operations, while being better prepared to respond to incidents and keep students, faculty and staff out of harm's way.
