Intercare & Tork® win DXB airport washroom contract
Dubai International Airport (DXB) - the busiest international airport in the world with some 89 m passengers per annum - continues to grow and develop. In the next few months, the majority of washrooms will undergo upgrades and refurbishments to continue to meet the high expectations of the travellers of the world. These washrooms will feature Tork®
Elevation Line washroom dispensers used in many airports around the world. Dorothee Stein, Head Facility Care at Dubai Airport, comments, “After a robust and detailed testing and evaluation process, we have selected the Tork® washroom solution provided by Intercare for our washrooms.”
Key criteria were design, quality, sustainability and commercial viability: the Elevation line dispensers from Tork® were preferred for their style, the Tork® paper and soap supplies for their FSC® or European Ecolabel certification. During tests, Dubai Airports saw a reduction in consumption and that contributed both to the commercial case as well as the sustainability of the chosen solution.
This is also an important milestone for Intercare and Tork®. Tom Marshall from Tork® puts this in perspective: “We are very pleased to serve the world’s #1 international airport with Tork® washroom solutions.” The chosen dispensers can at any point in time be upgraded to the Tork® Easy Cube standard whereby all dispensers will be connected to the internet allowing for detailed analysis of traffic patterns per washroom and automated alerts when dispensers need to be refilled. This will be trialled in the coming months.
“This shows that with Tork® washroom solutions quality, sustainability and best cost in-use can go hand in hand,” Peter Leys, CEO of Intercare, adds.
