Just months after Hako, a world manufacturer of industrial cleaning equipment awarded UAE’s Viking Gulf Trading a contract to distribute its products in the entire Gulf region, the latter re-launched Hako’s PowerBoss industrial sweepers/ scrubbers in the UAE at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club at the Arabian Ranches.
Held on the 20 April, 2009, the relaunch involved a demonstration of the PowerBoss Armadillo and Commander Series together with PowerBoss full line of sweepers, scrubbers and combination sweeper-scrubbers for industrial applications.
Powerboss is a durable and cost effective sweeper, manufactured with a heavy equipment design criterion to meet even the rigorous industrial cleaning requirements for indoor and outdoor sweeping tasks.
Commenting about Viking Gulf’s recent acquisition of Hako distributor rights for the Gulf region, the general manager of Viking Gulf Trading, Carsten Mahaini, said: “From a marketing point of view, we are very pleased that Hako has chosen Viking Gulf Trading to supply and market its products in the entire Gulf. This will surely enhance Hako’s and our already good brand image and product offering in the region.”
“We are not the first company to market this product in this region, but according to our analysis, the market potential is tremendous. PowerBoss Armadillo and Commander Series can run on petrol, diesel or LPG; and compounded with their price point, it will be a bigger boost for both the industrial and FM cleaning operations given the current state of economy,” he added.
Among the high profile players in UAE’s cleaning industry who flocked the demo, was Jan Wilhelm, the operations manager of Dussman Services, a facilities management service provider.
Expressing his interest in the machine, he said: “Its technical specifications are impressive and it comes with a relatively good price offer.
”Asked about the possibility of adding it to their fleet of cleaning machines, he said that “one should be enough for the beginning and it will be a big plus, given the scale of operations that we
currently have at hand.”
Recently, Dussman Services, penned three year multimillion dirham contracts for the FM management of Abu Dhabi and AlAin airports; in addition to a wide array of other FM contracts on its name. at the visitor turn-up for Hako Powerboss’ launch and demo, Andre j. Vonk, Hako regional manager for Middle East and Africa, commented: “The Hako Powerboss ideally caters for the contract cleaner’s sweeping requirements and I am certain that today’s launch will enhance the FM service industry in the region.”

Through its environmentally friendly ‘blue initiatives’,PowerBoss Armadillo and Commander sweepers are said to meet green cleaning standards, in addition to providing even more features specifically dedicated to industrial applications and environments. Their ‘blue initiatives’ come with an array of hallmarks which include: water conservation, clean air, clean energy, lower chemical reliance as well as lower emissions.
They come with vast innovative features which include all steel construction for tough industrial environments; a rotary trash relocator (RTR) to maximize hopper capacity while improving sweeping time; manual swing engines for provision of full maintenance access to the entire engine’ fast combination sweeper/scrubber which enables one machine to double its productivity; a double scrub which includes both cylindrical
