TYMCO invented and later perfected the Regenerative Air Sweeper to a
standard which all air sweepers today are measured. The first air sweeper was developed by TYMCO to meet the demand in the road construction industry to remove the fine sand and dust particles before laying tarmac onto the road. Previously brush systems had been used but they only brushed the particles into the cracks in the roadway and did not effectively remove them. The TYMCO sweepers quickly expanded into other sectors and is today one of the most used regenerative air sweepers on the roads and on runways.
The Regenerative Air System
The design maximizes the effect of the blower through use of the closed system whereby the creation of pressure at one point in the system for a cleaning blast of air, also creates a vacuum for collection of dust, dirt and debris into the hopper. By avoiding the use of filters and exhaust air, not only does it increase the efficiency of the system, it also eliminates a major cause of dust – that being the dirty air exhausted through the filters.
The Regenerative Air Process consists of a "closed loop" system including the sweeper, hopper, the blower, the pressure hose, the pickup head, the suction hose and the dust separator. Under normal conditions with a properly maintained TYMCO Regenerative Air Sweeper, dust creation is limited to the area immediately around the pickup head and gutter brooms. As the gutter brooms revolve through large amounts of dust, or as the pickup head is moved through large amounts of dust, there will usually be some dust disturbed outside the pickup head. The dust control system uses a small spray of water which helps dampen this dust back to the ground for removal through the pickup head.
After the dust is lifted inside the pickup head, it does not escape a TYMCO Regenerative Air Sweeper. The entire path is closed starting at the pickup head, depositing the dust, dirt and debris in the hopper. The dirty airflow is cleaned within the hopper through the use of debris screens and the patented cylindrical, centrifugal dust separator. This device uses the motion of the blower to move the dirty airflow in a circular motion within the dust separator. As the dust and dirt are moved to the outside of the circular flow by centrifugal force, they are skimmed off and deposited inside the skimmer for removal when the hopper is emptied. The airflow makes approximately 26 passes across the skimmer, cleaning the airflow more with each pass. Finally, the airflow is clean as it passes through the blower to begin the closed loop again.
The TYMCO sweepers have been used in this region for over 15 years and have performed well in all climates. TYMCO has reached an ideal balance between simplicity of design, ruggedness, dependability, effectiveness and cost, which is the reason behind its success.
TYMCO and Viking Gulf Trading
Viking Gulf Trading has already positioned themselves securely in the sweeper segment with the introduction of the HAKO Citymaster 1200 two years ago and have now with the addition of the TYMCO range expanded the sweeper range to cover every application. Where the HAKO sweepers reach their limits in size the TYMCO sweepers begin.
TYMCO sweepers start at a hopper size of aproximately 2 cubic meters reaching up to approximately 6 cubic meters. The sweepers have also proved very successful in the airfield cleaning industry. The reason being the powerful model 600 High Speed Performance (HSP), which passes the strict 10 cylinder test at speeds up to 15 Mph. The 10 cylinder test requires a sweeper to pick up all 10 specific metal cylinders at 15 Mph. The high speed is often required at airfields due to the heavy air traffic, which cannot be interrupted for longer periods.
The TYMCO sweepers are fully serviced and maintained by Vikings well educated and professional service technicians. In the unlikely event that a break down occurs the service team is available to assist 24 hours a day through our service hotline. However, to prevent break downs and increase the sweeper’s lifetime, Viking offers complete maintenance packages, which will ensure continuity and work efficiency for any cleaning operation.
