Tatjana Ahmed, Housekeeping Manager, Grand Hyatt Dubai, stresses on the importance of attending industry exhibitions and conferences.
It is that time of the year when the Dubai World Trade Center literally explodes with exhibitions and conferences. There is something on offer for every trade and profession. For us housekeepers, there are a few to consider worthwhile going.
The Middle East Cleaning Technology Week (MECTW) this November brings in a huge variety of exhibitors and conferences tailored to the cleaning industry in which we as housekeepers are also considered to have our share in. In the hospitality industry the shift from cleaning for appearance to cleaning for hygiene has brought about a huge change in the way we train and operate. The constant struggle to reduce labour is making us crave for new technologies that work faster and better and that reduce the load on the environment.
This year’s International Cleaning and Hygiene Conference and Gulf Laundrex-Linen Care Conference at MECTW (November 14, 10 am to 5:30 p.m.) brings to the fore subjects like Innovation in Cleaning Technology, How the Internet of Things is changing the way we operate, as well as the Future of Smart Laundries, just to name a few.
Panel discussions will be also part of the conference and these sessions are quite a useful way to trigger an exchange of viewpoints amongst experts. There is so much to learn!
A recent survey on Trade Show visitors revealed the following:
Having been in the field of housekeeping for the past 30 years, there has never been a more exciting time in terms of new developments of cleaning gadgets and cleaning solutions. The technology in the cleaning industry is rapidly moving forward.
Visiting MECTW is a must in order to get to know the latest innovations, to test them and to bring them on board in your own company. Since the start of the Clean Middle East Pulire exhibition and the ICHC Conference in 2012, the UAE Professional Housekeeper’s Group has played an integral part in establishing the Excellence Awards.
Since then, the awards have gained on popularity year on year. This year the awards are holding 8 categories, including Housekeeping, Laundry and FM; more than 130 nominations have been received! We have put together a committee of industry professionals, who will evaluate the entries and to find out who will be the best of the lot to win the accolades and the cash prizes.
We look forward to awarding the winners on November 15, 11 a.m. onwards during MECTW 2016. Having said this all, I hope to meet you all at the Middle East Cleaning Technology Week and the International Cleaning and Hygiene Conference. And, all the very best if you have nominated for the Excellence Awards!
