Tadweer celebrates International Workers’ Day

Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) hosted a special event for the employees of its contractors and business partners to celebrate International Workers’ Day on May 1. The initiative aimed to highlight the crucial role of blue-collar workers in maintaining the cleanliness of the emirate of Abu Dhabi and providing a healthy environment for its citizens and residents.


The agenda featured several activities including football matches and athletic competitions organised in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), and the winning teams were presented with valuable prizes. Dr. Salem Al Kaabi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer said, “Blue-collar workers are the unsung heroes behind the UAE’s development and prosperity. Our International Workers’ Day event is part of our continued endeavors to strengthen our relationship with our workers and thank them for keeping Abu Dhabi clean and protecting its aesthetic appeal. The initiative reflects the key tenets of our country that recognise the value of work and of safeguarding workers’ rights.”

He added, “It is a top priority for Tadweer to create a safe and welcoming work environment for all its workers to enhance their performance and motivate them to continually provide best-in-class services in the waste management and pest control domains. In line with its commitment to protecting the health and safety of its employees, the company spares no effort in preventing work-related hazards.”

The event received a positive response from the workers, who expressed their happiness at Tadweer’s initiative. They noted that such gestures make them feel appreciated and inspire them to go the extra mile.

Tadweer is the key government entity responsible for all activities related to the development of waste management services in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste in a safe, efficient and economical manner. The center is also tasked with carrying out pest control, educating communities about the significance of protecting the environment, and encouraging them to adopt sound environmental habits to drive sustainable development.
